Fittingly, in the year that saw the final circus put together by Ringling Bros. and Barnum Bailey come to life, a film is arriving in theatres inspired by the imagination of P.T. Barnum. And after a lot of hype, the first trailer has finally arrived.
The Greatest Showman is an original musical starring Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum, and chronicles his journey from nothing to becoming one of the people responsible for the birth of show business. The film also stars Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya.
From the trailer, we can quickly assess that the film will be much like Barnum’s circus, in that it looks to be pure spectacle. It also looks like it could very easily be a contender for the major awards next year. Hugh Jackman has proven time and time again through his films, and even as host of several awards shows, that he knows how to entertainment, and this film appears to be more of the same. Watch the trailer below, and see what we mean.
The Great Showman hits theatres on Christmas Day.
